Quick answer

Netflix raised every Malaysian plan this week, while Apple packed TV and Arcade into iCloud+ in more than 100 countries and launched Apple TV as a standalone bill in Romania and Croatia. Prime Video shipped a $29.99 five-service add-on, Paramount finished folding BET+ into Paramount+, and more than 40 percent of game-subscription cancellers named cost.

This week the subscription economy ran two plays at once. Netflix raised every Malaysian plan. Apple folded Apple TV and Apple Arcade into paid iCloud+ in more than 100 countries, then launched Apple TV as a standalone bill in Romania and Croatia. Amazon packed five extra streamers into one Prime Video add-on. Paramount finished absorbing BET+. Jio started giving eligible customers a year of Canva Pro. Gamers who cancelled Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, and Nintendo Switch Online named cost as the reason more often than they did earlier in the year.

If you manage recurring expenses, the useful question is which product you are actually paying for in your market, and whether a bundle replaced three line items or added a fourth.

Netflix repriced Malaysia, plan by plan

Netflix increased all four Malaysian tiers. Mobile moved from RM18.90 to RM19.90. Basic went from RM29.90 to RM33.90. Standard from RM49.90 to RM55.90. Premium from RM62.90 to RM69.90. An extra household member rose from RM13 to RM14.90 a month.

Basic took the steepest jump, about 13 percent, and it still cannot use Netflix's pause feature, which lets other tiers stop billing for up to three months. Existing subscribers get an email one month before the new rate hits their billing date. A US or UK invoice that stayed still this week does not protect a Malaysian one. Check the next charge date before the notice window closes: keep the current tier, drop to Mobile, or pause if you are on Standard or Premium.

Apple is selling three different stacks at once

In more than 100 countries, including India, Singapore, Türkiye, and the UAE, every paid iCloud+ plan now includes Apple TV and Apple Arcade at no extra charge. Family Sharing covers up to five people. Existing iCloud+ subscribers get the extra services automatically. People who only paid for standalone TV or Arcade are being moved onto iCloud+, and those standalone products stop being sold in those markets.

Apple One is closed to new buyers there. Current Apple One subscribers can keep their plans. The iCloud+ bundle does not include full Apple Music. It includes Apple Music Select, a set of ad-free curated stations, with a cheaper upgrade path to the full catalog. In India, Individual music is now ₹115 a month and Family is ₹145. The United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and much of Europe are left out.

Those European gaps are not empty. Apple TV launched as a paid standalone service in Romania at 39.99 lei a month, or 349 lei a year, and in Croatia at €9.99 a month, or €79 a year. Both offer a seven-day trial, plus three months free with a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K, or Mac. After expanding into 59 new markets, Apple TV now reaches 170 countries. Romania and Croatia got a new bill. India got TV folded into storage they already pay for.

In the US, Apple One still exists. Individual is $21.95 against about $34.96 buying TV, Music, Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud+ separately, a saving of about 37 percent. Premier is $39.95, includes Fitness+ and News+, and undercuts about $74.94 of standalone fees by about 47 percent. Fitness+ now has a clear US price of $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year. Record the SKU you actually have, not the Apple homepage for another country.

Catalogs are moving into someone else's bill

Prime Video launched a $29.99 a month US add-on that combines AMC+, MGM+, BritBox, Starz, and PBS Masterpiece. Amazon says that is about 39 percent cheaper than subscribing to those five separately. It only saves money if you were going to pay for several of those channels anyway. If you only wanted Starz, the bundle is a more expensive Starz bill with four extras you may not open.

Paramount finished folding BET+ into Paramount+. The standalone service, which launched in 2019 at $5.99 with ads or $9.99 without, no longer exists. More than 1,000 hours of BET originals, films, and specials now sit in a BET hub on Paramount+. For households that only wanted BET+, the cheap invoice is gone. The library now requires a Paramount+ subscription.

Jio is using the same logic on a mobile bill. From 16 September, eligible Jio users in India can claim Canva Pro or Canva Pro Lite for up to 12 months through the MyJio app, with no extra fee. The Rs 399 recharge gets Canva Pro. The Rs 349 plan and eligible 2GB-per-day plans above that get Canva Pro Lite. Put the end date on your tracker. When the complimentary year ends, either cancel inside Canva or accept a new recurring charge.

Game subscribers who cancel are pointing at the price

Circana found that more than 40 percent of US players who cancelled Xbox Game Pass Essential, PlayStation Plus Essential, or Nintendo Switch Online named cost as a primary reason. That figure is about why people leave, not how many leave. It does not mean overall cancellations rose.

The "I liked it, I just could not fit it in the budget" answer is getting more common. Half of recent Nintendo Switch Online cancellers said that, up from 40 percent earlier in 2026. For Game Pass Essential and PlayStation Plus Essential, the share moved from 37 percent in the first quarter to 40 percent. Xbox cut the price of its top Game Pass tier in April and pulled new Call of Duty releases off day-one inclusion. It is testing ads before cloud sessions and will add monthly cloud gaming limits in November 2026.

A cheaper headline tier that removes the games you bought the pass for is not a discount. If one of these services is on your list, write down which games you actually launched last month. Cost becomes the cancellation reason after the catalog stops clearing the monthly fee.

What this week means for your subscription stack

Start with geography. A Malaysian Netflix bill, an Indian iCloud+ plan, and a Romanian Apple TV subscription are different products that share brand names. If Apple moved you from standalone TV onto iCloud+, confirm you are not still paying an old store subscription. If you already buy Music, TV, and iCloud+ in the US, run the Apple One arithmetic before you renew four separate charges. Premier only pays if Fitness+ or News+ would have been on the list anyway.

Treat the Prime Video five-pack the same way. Two or more of those channels, and $29.99 may replace a mess of add-ons. One, and you are inflating a single habit. Former BET+ households should check whether Paramount+ is a plan they want, not a plan they inherited. Jio Canva users should log the 12-month end date this week.

Keep the subscriptions you open. Drop the ones you only keep because the brand is familiar. The industry is not choosing between raising prices and bundling. It is doing both, in different countries, in the same week. Your tracker has to follow the bundle you were moved into, not the logo on the app icon.
